Our Story

Our Story

Amblii (അമ്പിളി) means Moon in Malayalam.

It stands for who we are and what we do. Being moon children we’ve put together our efforts in building a collective that supports India’s centuries old artistry. While the world has westernised, South Asian culture is still known for its deep connection to its roots. As we evolve into more modern fits, desi couture has and will always be a part of our drip.

We believe that clothes are a strong medium of expression. They influence movement, confidence, even mood. We've spent time observing people's relationship with what they wear and how it shapes their energy. Amblii is years of watching, learning, and translating that into design.

Amblii is an emerging collective of artists, enthusiasts and misfits building a community of like minded people who want to contribute towards preserving indigenous culture, one weave at a time. We're slow, we're broken, we're not on point and as we figure the details we invite you to join us in this becoming of ours.

From hand blockprinting, to resist dying and Ikat weaves, Amblii's first cohort presents a breezy collection called Chhaav (छाँव) meaning "shade" in Hindi. Spinning in pure cotton reeled from various places across India, Chhaav resonates with our concept of wearing clothes you can truly move and be in. The ties, knots, sillouttes and cuts everything aligns perfectly to let your body flow.

We love fashion when it's cute, and comfortable. With Chaav we bring a piece of this to you, giving you a dose of comfort as a culture.
